The Place
One afternoon, my family decided to go out for lunch. We looked for a place that was both relaxing and enjoyable. Fortunately, I found Carlyle’s Cafe and Restaurant in Cagayan de Oro City. The location was perfect, as it was close to our home.
When we arrived at the venue, we were greeted warmly by their staff. We chose to stay in their alfresco area, which was really eye-catching. There was a pond full of koi fish and a huge birdcage with blue birds in it. We even had the chance to feed them. Later did we know that Carlyle’s was an aviary restaurant, and its owner was a bird lover. Indeed, my kids enjoyed watching the animals.

They also have a cafe in their outdoor area where you can order coffee, shakes, and juices, as well as cakes and other pastries.
The Food
We were immediately offered menus for ordering food. We ordered their baked scallops and camaron rebosado for our appetizer. For our meal, we picked a platter of baby back ribs, pinakbet with lechon kawali, lumpia shanghai, fish tinola (malasugue fish), and grilled tuna belly. The food was really delicious!
While waiting for our order to arrive, my family and I took the chance to take pictures in the restaurant. We noticed that their air-conditioned area had a large aquarium attached to its wall, with small fishes swimming inside it. The design of the place was more in touch with wood than anything else.

The Parking Area
Aside from the food, what made Carlyle’s a great restaurant was its large parking area. My husband and I never had to worry about finding a good spot for our car since there were plenty of spaces available.
Payment Options
When it came time to pay, we found out that they only accept cash and gcash payment options. Nevertheless, the serving size of the food was fair for its given prices, except for the tuna belly which was a bit too small.
Conclusion
All in all, our family had a great time dining at Carlyle’s Cafe and Restaurant. The place was clean and spacious, their staff were accommodating, their parking area was big enough to accommodate everyone and the food was really delicious. The only downside my family noticed was that the alfresco area can be a bit noisy because of the birds. Despite this, we will definitely come back to Carlyle’s for more enjoyable meals and experiences with our kids!
